The Wolf Moon, book two in the Wolfmoon rilogy, is a book about Celtic magic, gods and goddesses, druids, swords and sorcery, fantasy, romance, and mythology.

On the way to the airport before Maeve's flight to Scotland, she and her boyfriend Harold argue over an ancient map. Why was it in one of the crates of paintings that arrived at the gallery where Maeve works, and what did it have to do with her reunion with her mother?

Maeve is about to find out. When she's thrown into a parallel world on the night of winter Solstice she wishes she hadn't left it back at the cottage.

Alone in a land where goddesses and druids still roam, Maeve must come to terms with an ancient prophecy that names her as the one to bring Otherworld back to what it once was.
Wolfmoon has been percolating since I was a young girl wandering in the dappled light of the hardwood forests of Virginia. The Blue Ridge Mountains, always in the distance, bear an uncanny resemblance to the mountains I describe in the books. One place I frequented often, nicknamed Devil’s Glen, had shelves of stone jutting out next to a winding creek bed. Moss and lichen covered the granite boulders, and the trees growing there were gnarled and misshapen due to the rock formations.

As a child my daylight hours were spent alone, traipsing across fields, heading up overgrown paths to gather blackberries. A large field of orchard grass became an ocean, and small groupings of bushes and trees became islands. “Swimming” could be difficult against the tides of waist-high grass. Sometimes, chased into the forest and pursued by witches or malevolent creatures who were bound and determined to catch me, I would stop to look up at a blue patch of sky, insects floating lazily in the slant of sunlight. Other days I perched in the crook of a very old oak tree surveying my kingdom and watching the wind move across the waves of gold and green.

What will happen when Harold arrives in Scotland to join her? Will he find the map and attempt to locate her, or will he leave thinking she doesn't care for him anymore? These thoughts must be abandoned now, her only goal to find her way through the dangerous world she's in and discover how to fulfill her destiny without being killed.

The night of the winter solstice brings Maeve face to face with a terrifying reality as she is catapulted into Otherworld. How can she find her way home? Everything is different here, including the gods and goddesses who appear out of nowhere to give her instructions.

Harold’s arrival shocks her even further since he seems to have lived her before, his new warrior persona scaring her even further. His part in future events has been sealed as surely as hers.

With dark forces hunting her relentlessly and confronted with a fate she didn’t choose, Maeve must come to terms with her future and somehow find the strength to fulfill the perilous task set before he

And so I escaped the confines and problems of the family to freely roam my own imagination.

The hardwood forests of my childhood have now been replaced with the cactus of the Sonoran desert, and for part of the year the spreading canopy of evergreens in the Pacific Northwest. Inspiration comes regularly when I’m out in nature.

My college education centered on English and Art, and by the time I graduated I had basically a B.A. in both. By that time I was married with two children. During my two girls’ middle grade years, I started a greeting card business and then later, when they were out of the house, I began a silk painting business, continuing for twenty years. But writing was always at the back of my mind, and I finally had to allow the stories onto paper. Now it is a full-time pursuit, sometimes taking up ten to twelve hours of a day.

"The Wolf Moon is an enchanting and hauntingly beautiful story. Fate and destiny are the creators of the paths that Maeve and Harold must take, and that scares the hell out of Maeve. The past, the present, and the future collide and magic older thAn time itself surrounds the lovers. Maeve is fierce, stubborn, and feisty, and has traits she uses to fight the evil that is stalking her and lurking in the shadows. Thrown into a fate that she did not ask for Maeve rises to the occasion and learns a lot about herself that she never knew. Nikki Broadwell has written a truly captivating tale that lures the reader into a world were magic exists, fate intervenes, and destiny reigns. Get lost in a fantastical world full of wonder, beauty, and a love that will last until the end of time."

"I bought all three of the trilogy at once so I was able to go from one book to the next. I found all three to be touching a part of my soul memories. With each book you can see how the writer has grown in her writing. The Wolf Moon was just so intriguing. I had a very hard time putting it down. I finished reading it last night. You can see how she has brought current situations into her book and it was solved. I love the characters. It was great to see how each of the characters accepted their role in healing the Otherworld. I look forward to more of her stories about the Otherworld, to see how other characters develope. Each of the books make you think and re-think. I love stories based in mythology and how they relate to our times. This is the paperback edition not the Kindle edition." ~ Sammie Star

"I loved the detailed description of Scotland from the smell in the air, to the small white cottages, to the simplicity of their ways. Maeve being from a large city seemed to fall in love with their enchanting ways. it took a while for a detailed description of Maeve's physical appearance to come through, but when it did she fitted the picture perfectly with her red curly hair and green eyes. Throughout the story we watch Maeve grow into an extraordinary woman with so much ability.

"The outerworld was fascinating, now plunged into darkness by Brandubh the evil priest, Maeve is the only one who can save it as the prophecy was told a long time ago, the outerworld is fuelled with magic, creatures and animals with abilities to communicatetrees that have souls and plants that can heal.

"Harold who is Maeve's boyfriend play's a huge role in the outerworld.. The second chance he is given causes a new love to bloom between them that is beautiful to watch. Over all a very well written story that was very enjoyable. I loved the Gaeltacht in the story as it's my countries language. Nikki Broadwell made it sound magical. So go raibh míle maith agat for such a magical story."  ~ Aoife Marie Sheridan

"In Book II of the Wolfmoon trilogy, Maeve is on a journey to see her mother in Scotland for the first time since she was a child. She has a strange dream on the plane that reminds her of all the other strange dreams and occurrences that have been going on lately. Once she arrives she is filled with love and excitement to see her mother.

"Enjoying the beauty that is Scotland and her mothers cozy cottage, Maeve is told that she is part of a prophecy and she has an important job to do. Confused and upset by this, especially when she hears of the horrible acts her uncle Brandubh has committed, Maeve has no choice but to listen to what her mother and grandmother tell her. She is quickly trained by an old Druid, MacCuil, then forcefully taken to the Otherworld to complete her task and fulfill the prophecy.

"Once there she encounters different magical people and animals on her journey and discovers the horrors her uncle has unleashed in this once beautiful and serene place. Overcome with her responsibility, she remembers that Harold, her lover, is coming to visit her although she will not be able to make it to the airport to pick him up. It seems as though Harold is also part of the prophecy and may have even had a past life as a Scottish king. Trudging along in the Otherworld, Maeve's own powers are growing especially her power as a master healer.

"It is Maeve's job to save the Otherworld from the evil forces of her uncle Brandubh, although he seems to have recruited many and bribed others with gold to join his cause. This might be too much for Maeve to handle, but her family and others from the Otherworld encourage her. Along her journey through the Otherworld she has picked up quite a following and it seems everyone has heard of the famous prophecy."  ~ Tara L. Reynolds

EXCERPT:

"Help me, Finna!"

Finna jumped up to see glowing red eyes and a mouth full of sharp yellow teeth heading down the shaft toward them. Her high-pitched scream echoed off the walls as she ran to help Catriona push against the entrance stone. The animal was almost upon them when the stone rolled into place sending Finna flying backward. The eerie howl from the other side made the hair on the back of her
neck stand up. After that they could hear claws scrabbling against the stone.

"What is that?"

"One of the beasts that belong to the Wildmen who live in these mountains. I am nae sure why 'twas so vicious toward us. They often hunt the young boar and other animals around here but never humans." Catriona's face looked pale and drawn.

Finna tried to stay calm but she could feel her strength ebb away even more as she saw the fear on her mother's face. After her heart stopped pounding she dug into her pack and brought out apples, cheese and bannock hoping to stop the gnawing feeling in her stomach. Kneeling, she arranged the food between them. Catriona looked gratefully at the food and came to sit down cross-legged beside her daughter. As they tore off chunks of the freshly baked bannock, Finna's heartbeat returned to normal. It was as though Mikdal and Herska's essence was with them, providing strength through their food. Finna looked over, mentioning this feeling to Catriona.

"Aye, I feel it too, they are very special people and what they have to give comes through in mysterious ways."
